Athena had an unexpected seizure one day at the age of 21 months and her parents took her to the ER. She had never shown signs or symptoms but they did a scan which showed a mass in the front left lobe of her brain. She was life flighted to Nationwide Children’s where she underwent a craniotomy where they took out the tumor and discovered it was AT/RT. The doctors gave her a %40 chance of survival. She has now had three rounds of chemo and one stem cell transplant.
