Dyllen was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma Non-Hodgkins April 4, 2018.
Dyllen had been having stomach issues since January. After multiple trips to the Doctor he finally was given a referral to see a GI Specialist. They saw him right away and was scheduled for a Endoscopy a few day's later. They found that he had a virus attacking his stomach. His culture was sent in and came back positive for H. Ploryi. After a 14 day round of antibiotics he was suppose to be feeling much better. That didn't happen. Things were looking up the first few days and then drastically got worse. Monday, April 2nd, he had to stay home from school as he was throwing up again, which was nothing new. That night he screamed in pain all night long. So, that next morning, Tuesday April 3rd he was taken into the ER. He was severely dehydrated. They took X-rays and noticed something wasn't quite right. So they did a CT Scan and saw he had a bowel obstruction and intussusception of the large intestines and the colon. He was ambulanced to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls. They tried different ways to release the bowel obstruction and intusesspetion but none of them worked. Surgery was scheduled for that next morning. Wednesday, April 4th 2018, Dyllen went into surgery hoping it would make him better. But instead they discovered a baseball size tumor stuck between his large and small intestine. After removal of the tumor along with 11 inches of his intestines and his appendix they instantly biopsyed the tumor coming back cancerous.
Fast forward to April 9,2018 he started his first round of chemotherapy.
