Official Diagnosis-February 19,2016. Severe pains in the lower extremities (specifically the R hip)prompted the first visit to the hospital which was quickly dismissed as post viral inflammation and diagnosed as Transient Synovitis. Symptoms continued to worsen and persist which warranted a follow-up visit with our primary physician. Results of blood work revealed inflammation and she was admitted for further testing at St. Vincent hospital of Green Bay...Scans showed abnormalities in both hips and both upper legs/knees.. CT scan showed abnormal mass on the adrenal gland. The final MIBG scan confirmed that our daughter most likely had Neuroblastoma and she then was referred to the Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. Surgical procedures were then carried out to obtain a biopsy of the mass, bilateral aspiration of the bone marrow (of the hips )and to place a CVL. Tumor on adrenal gland was able to be removed successfully. Elysia will now undergo treatments to include: Chemo, radiation, Stem Cell Transplant, and Antibody therapy over the course of at least one year.
