About Sadi
On April 3, 2015 our Sadi was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma. It all started late February when Sadi started to get fevers that would come and go day in day out. She was taken to a doctor and everything was signed off as being a virus that was going around; she was told to take Motrin and she would get better. Another week went by and still fevers but now some pain started to come to her neck which was followed by swelling. She was taken now to the ER and again sent home. Her neck swelling went down but then started some leg pain, Sadi started limping along with the fevers that came and went. This time she was taken to ER and we weren't leaving until we had answers. She spent a week at Central Dupage Hospital with no answers; a day before her 8th birthday we were told she needed to get transferred to Lurie Children's Hospital for further testing. Doctors at CDH were confident to say it's not cancer, what a relief we thought. On our third day at Lurie's the word cancer came back to us, they were not 100% sure but they felt it was a form of cancer. It wasn't until 4/3/15 that they narrowed it down to high risk Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Throughout the two weeks at the hospital Sadi counted her pokes and with all the test that were needed, including a bone marrow biopsy she had received over 20 pokes. Sadi is on her third round of chemo and going strong. She doesn't feel brave or strong, but with everything that she has been through we consider her our most brave, strong, courageous little girl. Sadi has a year long treatment ahead of her which includes: chemotherapy, stem cell harvest/implant, surgery, MIBG radiation, and consolidation therapy. Prognosis is not the most positive, but we know Sadi will be in the group that makes it through this and lives on! Sadi was born on March 28, 2007 a perfect little baby girl. She loves to hangout with her best friend and have sleepovers, spend time with her family and her favorite holiday is Christmas. She was in 2nd grade at time of diagnosis and her favorite subject is art; she loves to paint & bake!!
