Zoey is 10 years old and she was diagnosed on February 22 2018 with Stage IV Intermediate Risk Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. She had surgery a few weeks after diagnosed to remove the tumor from the back of her left thigh on March 14 2018 along with a iv port placement , bone marrow, bone marrow aspiration, lymph nodes removal for about 9 1/2 hours. Luckily the mass was localized and the cancer didn’t spread. She started chemotherapy a few weeks after. So far she has completed standard 43 weeks of chemotherapy, 20 days of radiation, is currently on physical and occupational therapy, have learned how to walk again after been in a wheelchair for almost 3 months after surgery and is currently undergoing maintenance chemotherapy for 6 cycles in which we are currently on cycle 2. This journey has been a rollercoaster from the start, many questions were asked but we couldn’t share much due to not knowing exactly what was going to happen, she has stood strong and brave, her spirits are high but tend to drop sometimes due to unforeseen bumps and just been tired of everything that comes with a diagnosis.
