Luka has been battling brain cancer since June 6, 2014. He has had 4 brain surgeries to remove most of the original tumor and has since had 2 recurrences. He has received inpatient and oral chemo, neither of which has had success. He also went through one round of radiation so far. There are 2 areas of disease that remain and are essentially inoperable without great risk to quality of life (or worse). The last surgery was on Sept. 6, 2016. We are not preparing for another round of radiation along with a clinical trial (immunotherapy combined with a chemo med), which will likely take us to Augusta Georgia for a few months. Luka is a trooper for sure...most often stronger than his mom!
