Noah came into this world fighting, and has a spirit that is strong, determined, and relentless. His cancer diagnosis at 10 years old might have shaken him, but he will not let it win. He will make it out on the other side stronger and more resilient. We are sure of it. In March 2016, he began to complain about back pain, which was treated as a pulled muscle. As the spasms worsened, his parents requested more tests, but they never could have prepared themselves for the battle that Noah would soon face. During a trip to Target, Noah complained that his legs felt asleep and 20 steps later, he was flat on the floor. His mom instantly knew there was something wrong. An emergency room visit, 2 MRIs, and an evaluation from a neurosurgeon, the diagnosis was confirmed: a tumor on his spinal cord that was most likely cancerous. The next few weeks were a flurry of consultations, tests, surgery, a collapsed lung, chemo, a bout of pneumonia, physical therapy, steroids, anger, confusion, fear, and hope. No matter what Noah and his family have gone through thus far, hope is the one thing that keeps them going and allows them to celebrate the victories along the way. Noah is a precious, independent, brilliant 10 year-old boy who loves his friends, family, games, and all of the typical things a 10 year-old boy loves. Although there's nothing typical about his situation, Noah doesn't let it stop him from asking questions and learning new things. His adjustment to his illness has been incredibly hard on him and I firmly believe that an iPad would help him tremendously.
