Briar loves tractors, monster trucks, sonic the hedgehog, playdoh, playing outside and listening to music. he also enjoys watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse and loving on his mama! Briar is such a sweet loving little boy who enjoys the smallest things in life. Briar's favorite snack right now is chips, he is on steroids so he is eating a lot more! Right now we are not able to go anywhere due to his weak immune system so staying in the house and playing outside is all we have been doing.
The Hovater family from Russellville, Alabama, never imagined how much life could change in a single moment. On April 30, 2025, Brittney and Brady heard the words no parent is ever ready for: their 2-year-old son, Briar, had been diagnosed with B-cell lymphoblastic leukemia.
From that day on, their world has centered around doctor visits, treatment schedules, and two-hour trips to Birmingham every 7/10 days for Briar’s care. But cancer didn’t just impact Briar—it disrupted every part of their family’s life.
Sixteen-year-old Addy, Briar’s big sister, has had to move in with a family member. The risk of bringing home germs from school is too great for her little brother, whose immune system is now dangerously weak. While her classmates worry about homework and tests, Addy is worrying about her brother, missing family dinners, bedtime stories, and simply being at home.
