On May 26, 2026, our world changed forever.
Our sweet Maggie Wren, just 2 years old, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Her initial white blood cell count was an unimaginable 440,000. She was so little, but from the very beginning, she showed us just how strong she could be.
Chemotherapy started that very night.
Maggie spent weeks fighting through intense treatment, countless blood and platelet transfusions, spinal taps, procedures, medications, and more hospital days than any child should ever have to endure. Leukemia cells were found in her spinal fluid, meaning she needed chemotherapy delivered directly into her spinal fluid as well.
Genetic testing showed that Maggie’s leukemia carries a KMT2A (MLL) mutation, a high-risk feature that made her treatment even more aggressive.
But Maggie kept fighting.
She completed her first phase of treatment and, for a moment, we got the news every cancer family dreams of hearing:
Maggie was in remission.
On August 7, we were told she was in remission, and we thought we were finally moving toward the next chapter. Her bone marrow transplant was scheduled. We were preparing ourselves for another long hospitalization, but this time, we were preparing to bring her closer to the treatment that we hoped would keep leukemia away for good.
Then everything changed again.
Instead of being admitted for transplant, we were admitted because her leukemia had returned.
This time, AML appeared on her scalp.
Our hearts broke all over again.
The transplant was put on hold, and Maggie began another round of intensive chemotherapy. She is once again fighting with everything she
